What you'll learn
Learn the mechanisms that give rise to group culture and how to leverage these forces to build a culture of thinking.
Reflect on the guiding expectations you hold for your students’ long-term development as learners.
Course description
In this course, you will learn how to create “cultures of thinking”: places where a group’s collective as well as individual thinking is valued, visible, and actively promoted every day. Learn the eight cultural forces present in every group learning situation — language, time, environment, opportunities, routines, modeling, interactions, and expectations — and how they shape the group’s cultural dynamic.
Using these eight forces as the levers of transformation, participants will focus on practical and concrete ways educators can go about creating a culture of thinking in their classrooms and across their schools or organizations.
