This course introduces students to the practice of space law and policy in the United States and internationally and invites them to explore the ethical implications of space exploration. This discussion-based course begins with an exploration of the basics of the fields including its founding texts and managing structures. Students practice critical reading and writing through the exploration of all three levels of space governance (national international and entrepreneurial) addressing ongoing debates challenging the space sector including space debris and traffic management satellite constellations space security the US Space Force planetary protection and defense and space resource utilization.
