Logan McCarty is the director of physical sciences education at Harvard University, where he serves on the faculty of the departments of physics and chemistry and chemical biology. He has a PhD in physical chemistry from Harvard, where he has been teaching in various capacities since 1993. A recipient of many awards for outstanding teaching, including the Petra T. Shattuck Excellence in Teaching Award in 2007, McCarty has helped create new interdisciplinary courses to teach science to undergraduates. He serves on several university committees devoted to improving undergraduate teaching and learning, and helps to train PhD students to become better teachers.
