Lorne Rubis

Lorne is the Chief Culture and Transformation Officer at NorQuest College, helping the school thrive in the midst of the disruption impacting Alberta’s post-secondary education. Prior, Lorne was the Chief People Officer and Chief Evangelist at ATB Financial. Leveraging key focus areas, Lorne was an internal consultant, advisor, connector, coach, catalyst and occasional provocateur.

Lorne's career has focused on culture, leadership and transformation. He received a degree in education from the University of Alberta and started out his career as a teacher. He then completed a Master of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations from the University of Oregon, co-founded an Alberta-based business that flourished for 10 years, and was recruited to work in the US.

He has held executive positions driving transformation in a number of companies, including working directly for the chairman and CEO of a Fortune 500 company and as VP of Operations with the Los Angeles Kings. Lorne was also the president and CEO of Ryzex, a privately held international technology company.

Lorne was awarded the 2018 Canadian Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to the human resources community and advancing the workplace. He is also the author of The Character Triangle, focusing on the three tenets of respect, abundance, and accountability.
