Course description

As the world shifts into new forms of reality and virtuality we must reassess the concept of reality itself in order to skillfully humanely and autonomously live in the present and future world. Students of this course develop a phenomenological and moral compass for imminent future societal challenges including the ethics of artificial intelligence the omnipresence of media and technology fake news virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Readings cover seminal texts in philosophy and media theory. Focusing in particular on the TV show†Black Mirror the course also analyzes television movies news VR content and video games.
